Redefining religion and philosophy

Children are closer to god, yet the careers of several godheads are marred by child abuse and molestation. Being in a country that has over 30% unemployment rate, it is not hard to imagine why one can’t take-up a theology as his work field. Still, deep down within you will find people craving for answers, answers about the mysteries of what we call the universe.
Our society had been very different from western society. The primary values that make up Indian society, still preserve its uniqueness. The post industrial era which brought about a revolution in human lives, speeded the spread of knowledge and reason, had little or no effect on Indian society. You will find Indian chauvinists ready to slaughter you for challenging the scriptures, or bore you to death by supremacy of the Vedas.
However, they cannot change the fact that when Newton was giving his lectures at colleges throughout Europe, the ‘learned’ Brahmins were busy deciding who should sit on the mattress, who should sit on the floor and which class of people should sit on their beds while having lunch.
A question might arise why atheists or Marxists have tolerance for religions, why they would blatantly go away blazing their guns at the dogma. Personally, I have never come across an instance where dogma has been of any use, other than propagating arson, slavery and genocides. Now, some may find that kinky.
If that comes as an anti climax, the most fascinating part of religious history is that the nonexistence of god was proven, not hundreds, but thousands of years ago. Yet god continued to rule the universe from his ethereal palace as a part of the cultural aspect, more than theological.
Cultural aspects became clear in war, in clash of civilizations, where one culture considered the religious practices of the other irrelevant. What was considered sacred by a group was bestiality for the other. What was once considered a uniting force became the reason of slaughtering thousand and effecting thousands of lives.
