Waiting for wetness

My computer had crashed, indeed it was the worst feeling in my entire lifetime. I had worked 8 hours starting from 9 in the evening to 5 in the morning trying to fix the issue. It seemed harder than any of the issues I had faced before in the British Telecom server.

I searched my backpack for anything to save me as this time – backup, recovery disks, windows xp,vista disks, because I knew I didnot have the disk for windows 7. After I was satisfied with the speed, I backed off saying ,’I have an exam two days from now, should I spend more time in this, thoughts of going to the store and bashing the owner came to my mind. For whatever reason I went to sleep leaving the computer party configured

Two days later when I came back to the apartment, the computer didn’t even want to start, even safe mode hung up several times. However, there was hope, I had located the recovery disk, and frantically tried to make it work, however, every time I put the disk in, the computer became slow and unresponsive.

I used my last ditch effort to backup the data and was ready to install Linux. Just when disk inside, the system seemed to work faster, each time the system hung up, I reloaded the disk and it started to work !

I scrolled up to the first recovery point I had taken in 17th January, 2011 and frantically started pressing the next button. After the last one, the system started restoring. Took around five hours, I fell asleep in the meantime. My sleep came to an abrupt end to outside noises and in time.

Just then the computer restarted. I could see my old login. It took my old password to break it.

Once done I had gone a year back, in terms of the number of applications, but it was great to have my pal back – my cumputer.
