I think you realize that you are talking about human rights here, when you and I are concerned. We are already good with endangered and protected species act. There is no reason to support any other animals rights because…
1.) Do we want to save animals, but not plants ?
2.) Do we want to save the multicellular animals but not the unicellular ones.
3.) Do we want to save the higher animals. Till date no one has been able to decipher the term – ‘Higher Animals’
4.) Are we talking about animals which are more intelligent only ?
5.) What IQ level should we expect the animal to pass for this ?
6.) Do we consider animals that can show feelings ?
By ‘feelings’ do we mean an amoeba wriggling in pain when a scientist tries to pinch it with a micro needle, or earthworm moving on top of another earthworm in order to mate, which surprisingly also happens to be bisexual, just like its partner.
Could you define the criteria for the animals to meet before they earn their respect and why we need to exclude malaria causing protozoa from this list?
None of us are fools here, we have a chalked a clear idea what to with our existence, none of which involves screwing up the biosphere. And eating the tasty animals, just like the tasty plants … doesnot .
Freaking out at blood oozing out of a half cut goat’s neck doesnot help human kind or the animals. If we have no use for goats or dogs they go extinct. Just like the vultures today.
The dog can survive by becoming cuter, while the goat can survive by becoming tastier. Survival comes at a price
